Ceramic Coating Vs. PPF

Add real protection to your new car

PAINT PROTECTION FILMS (PPF)
Denver, CO //

Paint protection film (PPF) is a clear, durable urethane film applied over your paint to take the hits your finish otherwise would. Rock chips on the highway, sand and grit off Colorado's roads, bug etching, and light scratches all land on the film instead of your clear coat.

It is the strongest physical protection available for automotive paint, and on a car you plan to keep or resell, it pays for itself.

At Spectrum Auto Studio, we install precision-cut PPF tailored to your exact make and model, in a controlled Denver studio, with no visible edges.

WHY PPF MAKES A TRUE DIFFERENCE ON DENVER ROADS //

Denver driving is hard on front-end paint. Highway speeds fling gravel and sand at your hood and bumper, and in winter the CDOT treats roads with magnesium chloride de-icer and traction sand that pepper the lower panels.

Add a mile-high sun that oxidizes unprotected paint, and the front of the car takes constant abuse.

PPF is the only protection that physically stops that damage. A ceramic coating resists chemicals and UV beautifully, but it will not stop a rock chip. Film will. For most drivers, the smartest setup is film on the high-impact areas and a coating over the rest, and we will help you find the right balance for how you drive.

While often mixed up, or seen as the same thing, PPF and ceramic coating solve different problems.

Film stops physical impact; coating handles UV, chemicals, and gloss. Together they give the most complete protection available.

COVERAGE OPTIONS //

Protection is not all-or-nothing. We match coverage to how you drive, what you want to protect, and your budget, from targeted high-impact zones to wrapping the entire vehicle.

01 //

Partial front coverage

Targeted protection for the highest-impact zones, typically the leading edge of the hood, the fenders, and the mirrors. Ideal for daily drivers around Denver who want essential rock-chip protection where strikes happen most, without full coverage.

02 //

Full front coverage

Covers the entire front end, including the full hood, front fenders, mirrors, and front bumper. This is the most popular package because it protects every panel that faces oncoming debris, leaving no partial-film line mid-hood.

03 //

Full-body coverage

The ultimate shield for luxury vehicles and enthusiasts: film across the entire painted surface. Complete protection against chips, scratches, and etching on every panel, keeping the whole car in factory condition.

04 //

Combines full hood, front fender, front bumper, headlight, and mirror PPF with our multi-step restoration process, for drivers who want protection and a complete transformation in one. Explore the full package on our Factory Finish System page.

WHY DENVER DRIVERS CHOOSE SPECTRUM //

Film is only as good as the hands that install it. Poor prep and rushed edges cause lifting, bubbles, and visible lines, the things that make bad PPF obvious. Spectrum was founded by Aiden, with more than 15 years detailing and protecting vehicles, including training at Porsche and Lamborghini dealerships. That precision is exactly what a clean, invisible install demands.

DENVER PAINT PROTECTION FILM (PPF) FAQS //

YOUR Questions Answered

  • Is PPF really invisible once installed?

A quality clear film, installed properly, is virtually invisible. The keys are precision-cut templates for your exact vehicle and careful edge work, which is where a skilled installer earns their keep. Our film is cut to your make and model and finished with no visible edges or bubbles.

  • How long does paint protection film last?

Premium PPF is a multi-year investment and holds up through everything from winter road salt to summer UV. Actual lifespan and any manufacturer warranty depend on the specific film used, so we will confirm the exact coverage for your package before installation.

  • Should I choose PPF or ceramic coating?

They do different jobs, so many drivers choose both. PPF is the only option that physically stops rock chips and scratches, while a ceramic coating handles UV, chemical resistance, and gloss. A common setup is full-front PPF on the impact zones with a coating over the rest of the car.

  • Do you correct the paint before applying film?

Yes. Complimentary paint correction is included with every PPF package, because film is clear and locks in whatever is underneath it. Correcting first means the film protects a flawless finish rather than sealing swirls in place.

  • How much does PPF cost?

Pricing depends on coverage (partial front, full front, or full body) and your vehicle's size and shape. Tell us your vehicle and the coverage you want, and we will provide a tailored quote the same day.
